Day 40: Passing It On
Word:
1 Thessalonians 1.7 Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.
Daily Devotional:
In addition to having friends to walk with who are pursuing devotional lives as well, we are all called to help others develop life-giving devotional lives as well. The Apostle Paul and his friends set this type of example for us in 1st Thessalonians and we are called to pass this on to others. As you finish 40 Days of Devotion, it is important to decide both who are you walking with in this season that are helping you build a life-giving and life-long devotional life and also, who are you called to invest in and help them develop a devotional life as well that they may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord who has called us into His own Kingdom and glory!
Scriptures For Today:
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
1 Thessalonians 1.7-12 But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children. Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us. For you recall, brethren, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
Worship:
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for developing me in my devotional life. Who are You calling me to develop in this as well?
Listen & Obey:
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:
Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
How do You want me to apply this truth today?
Who do I need to share this with today?
