Day 33: Look Out

Word:

When we say "Look Up" in discipleship, we mean helping disciples pursue a lifestyle of knowing and loving the Lord. When we say "Look In," we mean helping disciples pursue growth in Christlike character and love for others. When we say "Look Out," we mean helping disciples pursue a Great Commission lifestyle. This outward dimension of discipleship is grounded in three key passages: Matthew 28:18-20, the Great Commission itself; Acts 1:8, which describes how the Spirit empowers us to be witnesses; and 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, which reminds us of our calling as Christ's ambassadors.

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Matthew 28.18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 1.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

2 Corinthians 5.16-21 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: hat God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Worship:

Prayer:

Jesus, would You give me wisdom and grace to help the people I am discipling to grow in living as witnesses and ambassadors who make disciples in our spheres of influence.

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Here are some prompts to assist you:

Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

How do You want me to apply this truth today?

Who do I need to share this with today?
