Day 36: Wait on the Lord

Word:

Isaiah 64.4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

Daily Devotional:

When we take time to stop and listen in our devotional times, we are waiting on the Lord. The Scripture gives us the great and precious promise that God works on behalf of those who wait for Him (Isaiah 64.4). The Scriptures also give the warning of the destruction that can come from not waiting on the Lord (Psalm 106.13).

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Isaiah 64.4 Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

Psalm 106.13 But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.

Psalm 130.5-6 "I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning."

Psalm 27.14 "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Worship:

Prayer:

Lord, I choose to wait on You to start my day. I don’t want to move ahead of You. I want to follow Your lead. Thank you for the promise that as I wait, you are working on my behalf. Would you speak to me today!

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you. Here are some prompts to assist you:

  • Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

  • How do You want me to apply this truth today?

  • Who do I need to share this with today?
