Day 17: Examples to Imitate

This week we are looking at how God works through relationships in our discipleship to Jesus. A second way God works through spiritual mothers and fathers to grow us in our discipleship to Jesus is through the example they provide.
Spiritual mothers and fathers give us a living, flesh-and-blood example of what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus. This example is meant to help us learn to follow Jesus for ourselves. As you read the Scriptures today, let them stir you to reflect on, or perhaps seek to learn more from the examples of those who have invested or are investing in you.
Scriptures For Today:
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
1 Corinthians 11.1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
Philippians 4.8-9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
2 Thessalonians 3.7-9 For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.

Jesus, thank You for the examples of what it looks like to follow You, I want to follow You as Your disciple today!
