Day 19: Gifting
Word:
This week we are looking at how God works through relationships in our discipleship to Jesus. God works through spiritual mothers and fathers to release and develop giftings in our lives. The Lord used Moses to develop Joshua, Elijah to develop Elisha, Paul to develop Timothy.
Just like biological mothers and fathers are able to see and help develop giftings in their kids, God works through spiritual mothers and fathers to help release and develop spiritual giftings in disciples.
Scriptures For Today:
As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.
1 Timothy 4.14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.
1 Timothy 1.18-19 Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.
Romans 1.11-12 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
Worship:
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for the way you work in spiritual mothers and fathers to release and develop giftings in the lives of your people. Help me to see the giftings you have given me through these relationships and work through me to release and develop giftings in others.
Listen & Obey:
Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you.
Here are some prompts to assist you:
Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?
How do You want me to apply this truth today?
Who do I need to share this with today?
