Day 22: Encouragement

Word:

One of the gifts that peer-to-peer discipleship relationships bring into our lives is the gift of encouragement. Encouragement literally means to put courage in someone. Peer-to-peer discipleship relationships create intentional opportunities for both receiving encouragement and encouraging others in our lives.

Scriptures For Today:

As you read today's Scriptures, read slowly and attentively, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you meditate on His Word.

Hebrews 10.23-25 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

1 Thessalonians 5.9-11 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Proverbs 12.25 Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

Proverbs 16.24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

Worship:

Prayer:

Jesus, You know I need encouragement and I am so thankful for the peer discipleship relationships You have given me - relationships where I can both receive encouragement and offer encouragement to others. Help me to use my words wisely today!

Listen & Obey:

Spend two minutes in silent, listening prayer. Write down what you sense the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Here are some prompts to assist you:

Lord, what do You want to speak to me from these passages of Scripture as I start my day?

How do You want me to apply this truth today?

Who do I need to share this with today?
